2018 was a year of progress

EasyWebshop launched a lot of updates in 2018: new product management, GDPR implementation, new customer management and an update for customer reviews.

We also launched a completely new Point Of Sale which allows you to input orders for your customers who order physically or by phone.


What will 2019 bring?

Like our competitors, we will raise our prices next year as your special new years gift!

Customer reviews

EasyWebshop provides a review feature for your shop, products and blog posts. This feature can be used by all our customers for free.


For your shop and orders
Reviews for your shop are shown in our directory. This gives your shop an advantage in search engines, as the review stars get indexed.

For your products
Your customers can review the products they bought. You can enable and manage reviews on a product basis in product management at Advanced > Reviews.

For your blog posts
Your customers can add reviews to your blog posts. You can enable and manage this for each blog post individually at Marketing > Blog.

Who can add a review?

  • Only customers can add reviews
  • One review per order, product or blog post

Inviting your customers to write a review

You can enable the review invitation email at Marketing > Customer reviews.

The email can be customized at Settings > Automatic emails. Make sure you include the review invitation link: this link gives your customer permission to add a review.

When replying to reviews, please do so in a positive and constructive way. New customers often read reviews to get an idea of the service you are offering.

Displaying customer satisfaction in your shop

You can add the customer satisfaction widget to your shop at Marketing > Customer reviews.


Deleting reviews

Deleting reviews is a sensitive topic. When a sale goes wrong, the story usually has two sides. Some review sites allow for deleting reviews when paid for. This is a disgraceful activity and it ruins the credibility of the review site.

Shop reviews are shown in our directory. We do not allow to delete them, and you can not pay us to delete them. Your customer can delete the review in his or her account at the orders overview or by using the review invitation link sent by email.

Product reviews and blog reviews are shown on your website. Since it's your website, you can decide which reviews are shown on it. These reviews can be deleted.

With the POS (Point Of Sale) app you are able to place orders for customers who purchase by phone or in store. We focus on usability, automation, and compatibility.


Our concept simple and easy to use has been very effective for our webshop software. We continue in that direction with the new POS app.

We know that our customers prefer to experiment and discover things for themselves. The new POS app offers an optimal user experience without the requirement for taking courses or having to consult complex manuals. Feel free to test the POS app and give us your feedback. Let our technology work for you and save time. The POS app combines product inventory, orders, customer management and discounts in the same administration. The webshop and the POS are automatically synchronized.

If you want to further automate your administration, it's possible to forward orders from your webshop and the POS app to external applications. This can be done using the Order PUSH feature in the EasyWebshop API. This allows you to forward orders in real-time to accounting applications, invoicing software and to suppliers.


The new POS app uses open standards, so you're not restrained to a specific platform or hardware. The POS app can be used independently of the webshop or in combination with it.

The POS app can be used on Linux, Mac and Windows, on a PC, laptop, tablet and smartphone. It's available in 20 languages and 34 currencies.

Extra hardware is optional and can be added when needed. You can use any barcode scanner, receipt printer or payment terminal. The POS app offers all payment methods including bank transfer, Bitcoin, credit cards, debit cards, cash payment and payment in the webshop.

In addition, the POS app is compatible with all your webshop features: product management, inventory management, order management, customer management, discounts and surcharges, product variations and parameters, volume discounts, customer groups, VAT and invoicing, shipping, payment methods, payment costs and the EasyWebshop API.

Notice: increase in domain name fraud http://www.easywebshop.com/news/582 We recently received a lot of reports from our customers about a high increase in domain name fraud.

Some internet businesses use questionable marketing techniques. Our customers who are in possession of a .com or .eu domain name are being contacted to register an additional domain name extension. Some of the arguments used if you do not purchase is loss in reputation and sales.

In the case you receive such an email, you can simply ignore it. You are not legally obligated to register additional domain names, especially not for a period of 10 years.

If you want to register an extra domain name, you can do so via Settings > Domain names > New domain name.

Are you in doubt after receiving a letter, call, or email about your domain name or webshop? Fraudsters are becoming more inventive in their operations and communication: it's not always easy to distinguish them from legitimate communication.

Summer tips

The summer months are ahead of us: holidays, cozy terraces and warm summer evenings are waiting for us. Many online retailers take a vacation to relax. You probably also.

If you don't process orders temporarily, mention this in your online shop, on the order pages and in the order emails. We discourage you to close the shop: this has a negative influence on search results.

Don't forget to renew your shop in time if you're going on holidays: we automatically send reminders 30 days before the expiration date. At Dashboard > My online shops you can find the number of remaining days.

And for those who can't resist to log on from their holiday destination: EasyWebshop is mobile friendly which allows you to manage your shop on a tablet or phone.


The GDPR update has been successfully completed: almost all webshops are now in compliance with the new privacy legislation.

The update we are currently focusing on is the new POS (Point Of Sale). As usual, you can follow everything on the update list.

Customer management update

Recently, we've updated the management of Customers and Customer groups. The new interfaces are mobile-friendly: they can be used on your smartphone and tablet.

The way it works remains the same: customers can create an account or order as a guest. At Settings > Customers checkout you can decide whether your customers are required to create an account. We recommend the Hybrid setting: your customers then have the choice to create an account or to order as a guest.


Contact form update

Your webshop is equipped with a contact form with spam protection. You do not have to put your email address on your website: this way you prevent spammers from obtaining your email address.

We\'ve improved the spam protection of your contact form. To make your webshop more user-friendly, we removed the captcha (distorted letters and numbers). By using new techniques to prevent spam, the annoying captcha's are now a thing of the past.

Customers also informed us that other webshop providers use the contact form to send their advertising. Be aware of fake emails asking you to renew your domain name or to buy extra services like search engine optimization. With EasyWebshop these services are included: you do not have to pay extra for them.

New EU privacy regulation (GDPR)

Starting from May 25, 2018, any organization that processes or controls personally identifiable information about EU residents must implement strict organizational and technical measures to be compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Failure to comply with the GDPR involves high fines. Fines can amount to 4 percent of sales or up to 20 million euros.

Which actions are required?

We know that the new privacy regulation can be complicated. As an entrepreneur, you want to be compliant with the GDPR without the hassle of going through the technical details and without high costs.

As an EasyWebshop customer you do not have to worry about this: we are currently developing a new tool to make your webshop compliant in an easy way. The update will be performed in phases: you will receive a notification on your Dashboard when you can start the compliance tool.

If you are temporarly not using your shop, please close it at Webshop settings.

You can now sell internationally in 20 languages http://www.easywebshop.com/news/486 Recently, we have added 4 new languages to EasyWebshop. We are the first webshop provider in the cloud that is available in 20 different languages. Business owners who want to sell internationally now have a much larger market range thanks to this update.

You can add these languages to your shop at Settings > Language & Currency. All the default texts and automatic emails are automatically available in your visitors' language. The automatic language detection ensures that your webshop is displayed in the correct language. Texts that you add yourself - like categories and products - you need to translate yourself. Therefore, only add languages that you will use.

The management interface for your webshop is also available in these languages. You can change the language using the globe icon at the top right on our website.

Nothing so annoying like a slow website! Therefore, we invest extensively in the speed of our customers' websites. Since our start in 2009, we have made continuous optimizations to improve speed. We do this through caching and optimizing the structure of our designs.

We keep our designs simple. Thanks to this concept, the layout of the website is not in the spotlight, but your products and photos are. After all, the purpose of the webshop is to sell your products.

But how do you get great photos? Almost all the images you can find online are copyrighted, so you can not use them freely. This is why we implemented the photo finder: for only €0.95 you can download a legitimate photo and insert it on your categories, products, and on your information pages.

To use this new feature: click Insert image when editing a page. We recommend using the smallest format for the web: these images have faster load times and are displayed better on smartphones.

Step by step we are adding new designs. Recently, we added two new designs Carefree and Vitality. Both are mobile-friendly, search engine friendly and optimized for super fast loading times.

Tip: after updating your layout, the colors and your logo may not be displayed correctly. You can upload a logo of any size, but make sure that it fits into the design. Confirm on both the PC and the smartphone that your website looks great.
